Russel Michael Snellenberger, 82 of Indianapolis, passed away on November 10, 2017. He was born on April 27, 1935 in Indianapolis to the late Russell and Norta Snellenberger.
A Christian man, son, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, he loved caring for his wife Nancy, and his family. He was a Fireman for the New York Central Railroad System, owned and operated Expert Wall Covering, and retired holding the rank of Captain after serving as a Firefighter for more than twenty years with the Indianapolis Fire Department. After retiring from the Fire Department, he continued to create as an accomplished author, writing many wonderful books.
Russel was preceded in passing by his wonderful wife of more than 62 years, Nancy; his mother and father, Norta & Russell Snellenberger; his sister, Jean Cross; and his granddaughter, Rachael Adcock.
He is survived by his three sons and their wives, Jay & Karon, Jeff & Susan and Jon & Tammy; his sisters, Katherine Dixon, Helen Litscher, and Joan Gardner; his brother, Earl; his grandchildren, Brandy & Shane, Ryan, Megan & Aaron, Jacob & Kayla, Jenna & Scott, Jaret, Joseph and Laura; great grandchildren, Michael, Alexa, Christian, and Maria.
The service will be on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. at Flanner Buchanan – Speedway, 2950 North High School Road. Burial will be at North Liberty Cemetery, followed by a meal for family and friends.
