Roy F. Borgmann, formerly of Speedway and currently a resident of Harrison Retirement Center, passed away on February 5, 2018, leaving behind his wife of 63 years. He was retired from Indianapolis Newspaper Inc after 32 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 500, Speedway Masonic Lodge, Past President of Speedway Lions Club, longtime volunteer at Indianapolis Ronald McDonald House and a devoted member and volunteer at Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ. He was awarded many honors including the Honorary Legion of Honor from the Order of DeMolay, the Melvin Jones Fellowship from the International Lions Club, the Lori Klieman Award for Outstanding Service from the Ronald McDonald House. He portrayed Santa Claus for many years at the Ronald McDonald House and Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ. He went on the Veteran’s Honor Flight to Washington DC.
He is pre-deceased by his father William Borgmann, his mother Edna Borgmann, his sister Helen Brace and his brother Robert Borgmann.
He is survived by his wife Marjorie Borgmann, his son Bruce Borgmann, his daughter Marianne Blackwell and his grandchildren Edward Blackwell and Rebecca Blackwell.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 9th, 2018 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Flanner Buchanan-Speedway, 2950 N. High School Rd.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 10th, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ, 603 N. New Jersey St. A private burial will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, gifts can be given to the Ronald McDonald House or Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ.
