Roweland Granville Huettner of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away March 12, 2025, at the age of 85. Roweland was born on August 5, 1939, to Leonard and Lilian Huettner in Pennsauken, New Jersey. Roweland was a 1963 graduate of Morehead State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science. He married and eventually moved with his young family to Indianapolis, Indiana, where he worked as a career engineer at Ford Motor Company until he retired.
Roweland had a big personality. He was sharp-minded and tough but charming, with a soft spot for his friends and family. He endeared himself to those who knew him. He could often be found laughing and swapping stories with one of his sons and enjoyed spending time with some of the lifelong friends he made at Ford, whose company he kept long after he retired. Roweland enjoyed football, westerns, and antiques.
Roweland is survived by his sons, Matthew Huettner (Samantha) and Christopher Huettner; and granddaughter, Honey Huettner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his eldest son, Roweland Gregory Huettner; his children’s mother, Delores Frownfelter; and his dog, Luke Huettner. Roweland will be deeply missed, but his family takes comfort in picturing his happy reunion with those cherished persons he missed while earthside.
The family will hold a private ceremony to honor Roweland’s life.
