Rose Marie Petty Bailey, 92, Indianapolis, died December 6, 2017.
She was born in Independence KY on December 4, 1925. Rose graduated from Richmond IN High School in 1943 and Lake Forest College IL, with an Accounting Degree, in 1947. She was a member of the Tri Kappa and Gamma Phi Beta sororities. Rose married Byron E Bailey in 1953. She was a lifelong volunteer and instrumental in the establishment of Indianapolis’ Public Broadcasting Station, WFYI Channel 20. During her volunteer career, Rose worked for United Way, PTA, Hoosier Capital Girl Scouts, AARP, Meals on Wheels, Leisure Club, and Westminster Village North. She was awarded the Jefferson Award Volunteer of the Year in 2012. Rose was an active member at church. She participated in Evangelism Programs and had been church secretary and a weekly bible study leader. She never missed a Vespers Worship Service at Westminster Village North. She was currently a member of Outlook Christian Church.
Rose is survived by her children, Byron (Teagree) Bailey, Jr., Beth (Dale) Crafton, Linda (Phil) Sergi; 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Helen Epping; and husband of 50 years, Byron Bailey, Sr.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 10, 2017 at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East from 2-5pm. Funeral services will take place Monday morning at 11am, with additional visitation 1 hour prior to the service, also at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Washington Park East Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are encouraged to the charity of the donor’s choice. Friends are invited to leave online condolences for the family at www.flannerbuchanan.com.
