Rose Marie Vasiliou

April 9, 1927 — July 30, 2020

Carmel, Indiana

Rose Marie Courogen Vasiliou died on Thursday July 30. She was born April 9, 1927, the daughter of Peter and Frances Courogen of Danville, Pennsylvania. She is predeceased by her husband George Vasiliou, and her sister Venus Steele (Jack). She is survived by her brother Dr William Courogen (Meropi); daughters Mary McCormack (Kevin) and Frances Thompson (Samuel); Grandchildren Joseph Thompson (Kathryn), Virginia, Nicholas Thompson (Kristin) and Zachary McCormack; and four great grandchildren.

She was a 1949 graduate of Hood College and had a long and distinguished career as a registered dietician, working in various hospitals around the country retiring from Goshen Hospital, Goshen, Indiana as the food service director.

She was a member of St Paul’s Episcopal Church, Indianapolis for over 20 years.

She was proud of her family and her Greek immigrant heritage. She had a great sense of humor and inner strength. Everyone enjoyed being with her and her kindness was evident to all.

Family was most important to Rose Marie, especially her grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Also her dear nieces Kim (Casey), Maria (David), and Deanna; and nephews Chris (Dianne), David, Peter (Claudette), and Gregory. She was the family glue being instrumental in organizing family reunions. We will honor her by continuing our coast to coast get togethers.

The family also thanks the Wellbrook Staff of Carmel for lovingly care for Rose in her final days.

Arrangements are being handled by Flanner Buchanan – Carmel. Guest book and condolences can be left at flannerbuchanan.com/obit. A private service is planned.

Memorial contributions can be made to St Paul’s Episcopal Church Indianapolis
