Rory Edwina Patricia “Patty” Bray, 50, of Indianapolis, passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2019. She was born on March 5, 1968 in Indianapolis and lovingly raised by her grandparents, Roy Edward Bray, Sr. and Velma Bonnie (Moore) Bray. Patty was a special little girl who spent time learning at Crossroads School and Noble Services.
In her younger years, Patty was content to be alone in her room, rocking back and forth to the sounds of country music. As she grew older, she enjoyed coloring, playing with her Light Bright and being with family. She enjoyed helping with small task around the house and was an expert sock sorter. Family enjoyed spoiling Patty with her favorite treats of chocolate, pizza, coke and a Wendy’s Chocolate Frosty. She also loved trips to the grocery store and having her nails painted. Although Patty was considered ‘non-verbal’ her whole life, she was able to communicate her feelings with her laughter and kisses.
She had many devoted family members over the years who provided her with endless amounts of unconditional love; Jennifer “J.J.” Coulter-Lissman, Hans Lissman, Elaine Coulter, Nolan Lissman, Emily Coulter, Bonnie and Dan Smith, Brenda Glasgo, Carolyn Jane Bray, Judy Johnson and Virginia Haley.
Patty is survived by 2 sisters; 2 brothers; uncle, Ray Bray; and numerous cousins and close family friends. The family would like to acknowledge the group home she lived in for 22 years, run by Indiana Mentor, and Harrison Terrace; the long-term care facility where Patty lived the last years of her life. She was well cared for and loved by many.
Patty will be laid to rest next to her cousin, Michelle Lee Dewey, in Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are encouraged to Downs Syndrome of Indiana. Friends are invited to leave online condolences for the family at www.flannerbuchanan.com.
