Ronald “Ron” Charles Reed, 67, of Brownsburg, Indiana passed away peacefully at home on November 14, 2018. He was born November 22, 1950 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Charles and Dora Reed; one half of twin boys.
Ron was born and raised in the Indianapolis area. He graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1969; it was school that led him to the love of his life, Linda. The pair had known each other since they were in 2nd grade, though they didn’t share their first date until their junior year of high school. April 8, 1968, Ron took Linda to see a movie, a ticket stub she still cherishes to this day, and the rest is history. The pair married on October 17, 1969 and spent 49 beautiful years together raising their two children; they remain very much in love at the time of his passing. Upon graduating high school, Ron made a selfless commitment to our nation. May 15, 1970, he enlisted in the United States Army. He served his country for two years, earning the National Defense Service Medal, Expert Badge with Rifle Bar (Rifle M-16), as well as the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged May 15, 1972 as a Specialist 4. Our nation will forever remain grateful for brave soldiers like Ron. Upon his discharge, he worked for Eli Lilly as a supervisor in the chemical dispensing sector. He retired in 2005 after 33 years of faithful service. Though he was technically “retired” Ron was not a man who wanted to remain idle. Within a year of his retirement, he worked for Plainfield Florists as a delivery driver and continued working with them up until his passing. He was a faithful member of Plainfield Christian Church and loved the Lord. Family remembers him as a funny man with a zany sense of humor, you never knew what was going to come out of his mouth next. He was a family man who thoroughly enjoyed life. Ron loved to travel, camp, but he especially loved playing word games with his friends. Now, he didn’t meet up for Scrabble every Tuesday night, he played word games on his phone with people from all around the world. Many of these people became very dear to Ron and amazing friendships blossomed. He was truly an unforgettable man; a man who will not soon be forgotten by anyone who was blessed enough to meet him.
He is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Dora. Surviving to cherish his memory are loving wife of 49 years, Linda; children, Adam (Misty) Reed and Sarah (Marcus) Negron; twin brother, Don (Suzy) Reed; grandchildren, Isaac, Mykala, and Luke; as well as many extended family members and friends from Indiana to Australia.
