Ronald S. Lux, 98, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2024 in Carmel, Indiana after a long, full life.

He was born May 23, 1926 to Elton and Augusta Lux in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was the oldest of six children (4 boys, 2 girls). After graduating from high school in Lincoln, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in World War II from May 1944 - May 1946 as a Radioman Third Class on a destroyer escort, the USS Spangler, based in the Mariana Islands. After the war was over, he returned to Lincoln where he attended the University of Nebraska. He graduated in January 1950 with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration. He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Beta Gamma Sigma and Phi Mu Epsilon, honorary scholastic, economic, and mathematics fraternities.

He married Margaret Bowen July 3, 1947 in Lincoln and together they had seven children - Janice Magnoli of Sebastopol, CA; Susan Lux of Cardiff by the Sea, CA; Ann Ybarra of Wichita, KS; Lynn Cracraft (Larry) of Wichita, KS; Sylvia Lux of Westfield, IN; John Lux (Karla) of Flower Mound, TX; and Christine Christensen of Helotes, TX. Ron and Margaret were married for 39 years until her death November 1, 1986.

Ron had a 38-year career with General Motors Acceptance Corporation (GMAC Finance) and held various positions in Nebraska, New Jersey, New York and was Control Branch Manager in Wichita, KS and then in Indianapolis, IN where he retired in 1988.

He married Caroljane Hall on March 5, 1989 and they enjoyed 31 years together until her death on February 22, 2020.

Ron was an active member of the Nature Conservatory, Arbor Day Foundation, and a lifetime member of Broad Ripple Sertoma Club where he served for 30 years. He was chosen as “Sertoman” of the year in 2004. He felt truly honored to be on the inaugural Indy Honor Flight to Washington D.C. on September 10, 2012. He was an avid golfer and swimmer, enjoyed table tennis with friends on a regular basis, and visited almost all of the National Parks. 

He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Stan Lux of Lincoln, NE; John Lux of Lincoln, NE; Kenneth Lux of Reno, NV; grandson Gavin Lux of Westlake, OH, and stepson, Bill Hall of Mason, OH.

He is survived by his seven children, 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, a step-daughter Debbie Richardson (Brian) of Zionsville, IN and sisters Carolyn Nelson of Lincoln, NE, and Kathleen Parker (Don) of Kimberling City, MO.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 11 am Saturday, August 3 at New Joy Lutheran Church in Westfield, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to Indy Honor Flight, The American Cancer Society, or Broad Ripple Sertoma Club.

The family wishes to give a heartfelt thanks to the Caregivers at Story Cottage, Carey Grove in Carmel, for their compassionate, loving care.
