Ronald Lee Horton

Ronald L. Horton, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away on December 7, 2022, at the age of 78. Ron was born in Indianapolis, IN on March 2, 1944, to parents, Paul and Helen (Clemens) Horton.  He graduated from Howe High School, where he played basketball and excelled at football. Ron worked as an Insurance Claims Adjuster during his career. Ron was a former member of Calvary Temple and current member of Tabernacle of Faith. He took part in local missionary work for over 30 years.  Ron loved singing for the Lord and was a very talented Southern Gospel Singer.  He used his gift to minister to others in the Mars Hill Neighborhood, in nursing home ministry and as a member of a gospel quartet. Ron was also an avid football fan, especially of the Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Bears. He was very proud of his years as a girl’s softball coach with Columbus North High School and several travel teams.

Ron married the love of his life, Sandra (Thompson) Horton on August 1, 1981, who survives.  He is also survived by his daughter, Rhonda K. Fitzpatrick (Mark); stepchildren: Tony Castner, Pamela Gunn and Jeff Castner (Patti); grandchildren: Lindsey, Levi and Cole; step-grandchildren: Ashley, Meighan, Katelyn, Tyler and Kyle; great-grandchildren: Kyson, Grey, and Novalee; step-great-grandchildren: McKinleigh, Waylon, Miller and Tate; and brother, Steve Horton.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Helen; daughter, Stephanie Ann Britt; step-daughter-in-law, Margaret Castner and step-grandson, Andrew Lovegrove.

Visitation will be held from 1pm until 3pm, Monday, December 12, 2022, at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East (10722 E. Washington St., Indpls), where funeral services will immediately follow, beginning at 3pm. Burial will follow services in Washington Park East Cemetery.
