Ronald Emmett Schrom

October 15, 1946 — October 3, 2021

Indianapolis, IN

Ronald Schrom, 74, of Indianapolis passed away peacefully on October 3rd.  Born in upstate New York, he was the son of the late Charles Schrom and Rosana (Maynard) Schrom and husband to Ruth (Roy) Schrom.

At one point growing up he attended a one room schoolhouse; he worked on his uncle’s farm; he blew the engine of his beloved Jaguar and he graduated from SUNY Cobleskill.  He worked in the finance industry, retiring to his final job at Lowes before moving to Indiana to be closer to family. Ron loved to play golf; enjoyed watching his favorite New York sports teams; spending time with his family.  Even as he dealt with affects of dementia, he was charming and full of stories.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two children, Brenda Pickett (Chris) of Indianapolis and Barb Kilpatrick (Brian) of Greensboro, NC; 5 grandchildren, Elizabeth and Samuel Pickett of Indianapolis, Emma, Maeve and Brennan Kilpatrick of Greensboro, NC; his sister, Angela Rulison; many beloved nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the nursing staff for the thoughtful comfort and care they provided to him.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 8, 2021 from 3-4pm at Flanner Buchanan – Geist, with a funeral service immediately following.  Ron will be laid to rest in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens at a later date.  In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in his honor to the Alzheimer’s Association.
