Rodney Lee Maxey I.

January 11, 1953 — July 27, 2018

Indianapolis, Indiana

Rodney Lee Maxey I. ascended this life on July 27 2018 after a long battle with COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease).  In his last hours, he stated “I want all of you to know that I fought a Good Fight”.   He truly fought this disease with all of his spirit and might to the very end.

Rodney was born on January 11, 1953 to Deloris and Leroy Maxey Sr.  He is the eldest of five children.  Both of his parents have preceded him in death.

Rodney attended Washington High School and graduated from Crispus Attucks High School in the year 1971.  He worked for Chevrolet Truck and Bus and Allisons for a total of 17yrs. and obtained a host of occupational accomplishments as an Entrepreneur.

Rodney was an avid reader who constantly gathered information pertaining to Health and Wealth in an effort to help others.  He was gifted with a creative mind for Interior Design and Custom painting.

Rodney was preceded in death by his son Rodney L. Maxey II.  He leaves to Cherish his memory; his devoted and loving wife Mrs. Debra Ann Maxey, his daughters Kamaria Venee Sims and Sherree Khalee Maxey.   His siblings; Leroy (Lorri) Maxey Jr., Anthony Maxey, Valerie (Joseph) Maxey-Hodgens, and Stephanie (Samuel) Maxey-Boyd;
Affectionately known as “Poppie” to his grandchildren, he will be sadly missed by them all; Alayah Munsell, Aniyah Woods, Aiyanna Sims, Donnell Sims, Anthony Neely, Aaliyah Sims, Amilah Neely, Adrianna Sims, Adonis Neely, Avian Williams, and a host of very special nephews, nieces, other relatives and Dear and Close Friends.

Thank you for giving our family a foundation of strength and a sense of enduring love ..for setting an example of hard work, courage, and high ideals….Thank you for being a protector, provider, and a problem -solver all in one…Thank you for all the love you gave –With love from the family
