Rodney Egbert Jones, at the age of 82, peacefully entered the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, May 30, 2022.  He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Marvin & Frances Jones. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Jones, son Douglas Jones, stepchildren, Rose (Jim) Poetz, Ronald (Niki) Gurley, Donna (Dan) Radcliffe, Theresa (Mike) Hodge, Melvin Decker, 15 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and his niece Cathy (Phillip) King. Rodney was preceded in death by his beloved son, Dean Jones and his five older brothers, Cody, Marvin Jr. Paul, Robert (Bob) and Phillip Jones.

Rodney retired from Ford Motor Company with 33 years of service. He was a fraternity brother of the Scottish Rite of Plainfield, Indiana #653 since 1975 and rose to the degrees of 32 Freemasonry. Rodney was a strong Christian, and a longtime member of the Bible Study Chapel of Indianapolis. He loved listening to music and would often sit out on his deck and listen for hours, smiling and singing along. He could talk for hours about old movies, listing every actor by name. He was very knowledgeable about everything cars, Ford being the best of course. He had a passion for sports, the Indianapolis Colts were top on his list. Rodney would watch any and every sport all day long if you let him. Football, bowling, golf, if there was a competitive nature, he would watch it.  Rodney’s patriotism for our country was immense, he was a proud and devoted American. Most of all, Rodney loved God, he had genuine faith and lived a life of gratitude, integrity, and worship.

When Rodney remarried to Ruth, he gained a large loving family. He enjoyed family gatherings, hours of fellowship, and he loved his family. He had many nicknames from his adult stepchildren, Pops & Daddy were his favorites. He would jokingly tell Ruth, “Don’t you wish you had daughters and son’s as good as mine?”. Rodney was a good man, he was loved very much, and he will be missed immensely.

John 16:22 “So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.”
