Robert William Olson Sr.

Robert William Olson, Sr., 83, Westfield, IN, passed away on November 25, 2022, after an illness.

He was born in Beloit, WI, September 30, 1939, and graduated from Rockford East High School.

He served in the Rock Island Armory National Guard and worked for Western Electric, Illinois Bell Telephone Company for 39.5 years, and Wal-Mart for 17 years. He was an avid bowler and made all of his children’s sporting and school events. He enjoyed riding his John Deere mower, visiting the casino, and attending and watching stock car racing, Westerns, and college basketball games.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Clara Olson, and dog Lucky.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Mary, sister Janice Kanzler of Plainview, AR, son Robert, Jr. of Orlando, FL, daughter Mari Lynn (Jeff) Schemel of Westfield, IN, grandchildren Ryan and Robyn, niece Amy, dog Wags, an uncle, numerous cousins, and friends.

Private service to be held with cremation arrangements entrusted to Flanner Buchanan – Hamilton Memorial Park.

The family would like to thank the City of Westfield EMS and Fire Department teams and the staff of Ascension St. Vincent Carmel and Indianapolis for their dedicated and loving care.
