Robert Wayne Miller

June 13, 1960 — February 11, 2021

Noblesville, IN

Robert Wayne Miller, 60, of Noblesville had breakfast at his favorite Lincoln Square Pancake House one last time on February 11, 2021, before passing away. He was born June 13, 1960, in Ft. Thomas, KY, the son of Malcolm and Shirley (Parrott) Miller, who raised him on a cattle farm with his brother Randy where he — as he liked to remind his children — loaded hay bales despite a strong allergy. He married Cynthia (Fox) Miller, a fellow Kentuckian with a cosmetology degree, on Derby Day in 1985. They were married 28 years before her passing on Jan. 20, 2014. He cared for her every single moment.

Bob started working in little barbershops until he, like the true salesman he was, endeared himself to a local salon product company and joined it as a salesman. He rose up the ranks to become a national vice president of sales across several companies while working in six states.

In turn, that self-made father spoiled his children — Robert “Quinton” Miller, Madison Miller and Brody Miller — rotten, proud to provide them with dance lessons and baseball instructors and whatever toys they wanted. That may be part of why Bob’s two sons lack any of his handy abilities, although Madison can put them all to shame.

He loved baseball, and he raised one son, Quinton, who became a professional baseball player after years of trips across the country together for tournaments. He loved house projects and style, so he and Madison spent countless hours designing his entire Indiana house together (and also lounging doing nothing together). He loved movies, so he and Brody spent nearly every weekend at a movie theater after breakfast from the time Brody was 8. He moved their family from Kentucky to Indiana to Ohio to California to New Jersey before settling again back in Indiana while still connecting with his family, each child carrying on a different but powerful relationship with him.

Bob was quiet but could turn it on and charm any room he entered (again, a salesman). He was tough but also the sweetest and sometimes corniest man, making annual “family newsletters” about the kids to send as Christmas cards. He was a skilled golfer who once hit a double eagle on a Par 5. He became a talented amateur photographer. He gained an incessant kindness from his mother and a diligent work ethic from his father, who passed in 2008. He was a good father and a darn good husband.

He is survived by his mother; three children, Robert “Quinton” (Kylie) Miller, Madison Miller, and Brody Miller; and a brother, Randy (Janice) Miller, as well as countless nieces and nephews.

Bob loved highlighting others and took such pride in the family he built with Cindy. So here’s an ode to the man who never made anything about himself.
