Robert Allen Slade

Robert Allen “Bob” Slade of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away unexpectedly on February 21, 2025, at 85 years old. He was born on August 12, 1939, in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Edgar Frederick and Mattie Cora (Bastin) Slade. Bob work at Chevrolet Truck and Bus for 35 years as a Specialized Clerk in the Safety and Personnel Office. In his younger years he enjoyed bowling, softball, and tennis. He especially enjoyed playing ball in the field next door with his children and the neighborhood kids. Eventually his grandchildren joined, playing all number of games, including the family favorite, “car game.” Bob was a huge sports fan and watched endless hours of games and sports talk shows. He especially loved the Indiana Hoosiers and Chicago Bears. Bob loved to tell jokes and was well known for his daily joke posts on Facebook. He loved the Lord and was a member of Living Word Bible Church, where he served as a Deacon. Bob was dedicated to his family and enjoyed spending time with all his children, and grandchildren gifting them the latest fad items from QVC or Amazon. He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Mundy) Slade, his children, Deborah L. (Fernando) Fernandez, Lee Ann Slate, Kyle Dean (Regina) Slate, Douglas Slade, his grandchildren, Jessica, Adam, Megan, Marjorie, Lauren, Jacob, Madison, Evan, Joshua, and his great grandson, Arlo. He is also survived by his sisters, Doris Billiard, and Virginia (Art) Liphard and numerous nieces and nephews. Bob will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at West Newton Cemetery in West Newton, Indiana. To celebrate his life, you are invited to his church, Living Word Bible Church 6306 Gray Road Indianapolis, IN 46237 on Saturday, March 8, 2025. Visitation begins at 1:00pm with a service at 2:00pm.
