Robert "Scott" Schaefer

Robert “Scott” Schaefer, 61 of Carmel, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 18, 2017.  Scott was born December 22, 1955 in Indianapolis to Herman H. Schaefer and Alma Freyn Lathem.  He was a graduate of Brebeuf and attended Indiana University.  Scott was a member of Alpha Tau Omega.

Scott was a huge hockey fan.  He was a referee for the Indiana Youth Hockey Association; refereeing many games in Carmel, Fishers and Westfield.  He was a member of the Varsity Club at Indiana University and enjoyed riding his bike. Scott was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending quality time with his granddaughter.

Family and friends are invited to gather from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm Saturday, November 25 at Flanner Buchanan-Carmel, where a service celebrating Scott’s life will take place at 1:00 pm Sunday, November 26.

Scott is survived by his wife, Debbie; son, Garrett S. Schaefer; granddaughter, Dejah G. Schaefer; mother, Alma L. Lathem; sisters, Sally L. Etter and Susan C. Young; brother, Bill Schaefer; several nieces and nephews.
