Robert Schuster

Robert Schuster, beloved father, brother and talented watercolorist, passed unexpectedly on Feb.2nd at his home in Oaklandon, Indiana.

Born to Doris and Glenn Schuster on September 13, 1936, Bob grew up in Lawrence, Indiana, graduating from Lawrence Central High School with the class of 1954. Bob married his high school sweetheart, Mary Louise Parker in 1956.

A gifted artist, Bob took his talents to the workforce and spent his working years creating displays and murals starting with Blocks in downtown Indianapolis in 1955, then onto Fieldhouse Refrigeration as a draftsman designing grocery stores. He finally ended his career, retiring from Payless Supermarkets in 2000. He loved the outdoors. His passions were gardening, hiking, fishing and painting. His wildlife art was exceptional and his hand-painted Christmas cards every year were treasures.

Predeceased by his beloved wife Mary Lou and his parents Glenn and Doris, Bob is survived by his children, daughter Sulynn Hey (Don Hey), son Dan Schuster (Shelly Schuster), daughter Nancy Montgomery (Keith Montgomery) and his son John Schuster. He is also survived by his sister Sue Shaw and her husband Harold and his brother Ron Schuster and his wife Penny.

Grandchildren: Matthew Montgomery (Brittini), Joey Durr (Gabrielle), Madie Schuster, Nicki Schuster, Jack Schuster.

Greatgrandchildren: Lucas Montgomery, Emma Montgomery and Liam Montgomery.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will take place on July 8th at the Fort Harrison State Park at site 702, Rec Building. A time of fellowship and gathering will begin at 1pm. His memorial service will begin at 2:30pm. Guests should notify park rangers at the gate they are attending Bob Schuster’s service, to avoid paying a park fee.
