“Flights of Angels Sing Thee to Thy Rest.” – Reverend Dr. William A. Evertsberg

Robert Steven Ross, born October 23, 1944, was the son of Richard Francis Ross and Rosalie Marie Ross (nee Abbinanti). Robert “Bob” departed this earthly life on Friday, December 2, 2022 at the age of 78.

Treasured father to Julie Diane Ross of Indianapolis, Indiana and Elizabeth Rachel Henry (nee Ross) of Ohio. Beloved brother to Philip Richard Ross of Story City, Iowa, Mark William Ross of St. Louis, Missouri, and Linda Marie Billingsly (nee Ross) of St. Louis, Missouri. Wonderful uncle to his nephews, Vincent Joseph Ross and Michael Joseph Billingsly, both of St. Louis, Missouri; and nieces Erin Christine Ross Fink of Story City, Iowa, and Heather Marie Eisenbach (nee Ross) and Sarah Michelle Billingsly, both of St. Louis, Missouri. Adoring great uncle to Luna Addison Fink, Ethan Sumner Fink, Wyatt Owen Fink, Mason Tyler Eisenbach, Zoey Marie Eisenbach, Emma Rae Eisenbach, Gabriel Christian Ross, Stella Rosalie Ross, Cole Jameson Ross, and Connor Blaire Billingsly. Bob is preceded in death by parents Richard and Rosalie, brother Frederic Harris Ross, and nephew Anthony “Tony” Philip Ross.

Bob grew up in Wisconsin and Chicago. He developed his career in St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and eventually, Indianapolis, where he raised his family. He was retired after a long career in Entertainment sales of vending and gaming systems. He loved travel and had fond memories of a solo trip to Italy in the 1960s. But Bob’s true passion was found in photography. Devoted to family, he enjoyed nothing more than family gatherings at which he could photograph his children and nephews and nieces and share those memories with family. Bob also loved to photograph nature and particularly loved going for excursions to photograph exotic florals, such as orchids, and colorful landscapes throughout each season. In the early 2000s, Bob published his own book of photography titled, “Serene Moments” which illustrated his talent in the extreme detail of florals, delicate snowy landscapes, and explosive fall foliage. A movie buff, Bob thoroughly enjoyed a well-crafted plot and expert acting. Some of his favorite films were “The King’s Speech” “Empire of the Sun” “All the President’s Men” and “The Sound of Music”. He loved animals, baseball, especially the Chicago Cubs, the occasional good cigar, a cold beer on a hot afternoon, antique cars, and long discussions on current events. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Bob’s life will be celebrated in memorial on Saturday, December 10, 2022, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Flanner Buchanan – Carmel, 325 E. Carmel Drive, Carmel, Indiana 46032. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a charitable donation to the American Heart Association.
