Robert "Pops" Allen

Robert “Pops” Allen, 84, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully November 21^st, 2021. He was born in Stillwater, Kentucky, September 9^th, 1937, to parents George and Bessie (Taulbee) Allen.

Robert was a very hard worker. He was employed at RCA for 22years. He went on to work for Ogden Allied (Fomica) for 21 years before retiring.

On July 8^th, 1972, he married the love of his life, Star Lee Hanners. They were a couple for 49 wonderful years.

Robert was a strong, caring gentleman. When he and Star were younger, they loved going out and dancing. He enjoyed bowling and was a valued member of bowling leagues. Robert liked being outdoors, hunting big and small game, and fishing. A jack of all trades, he was extremely handy around the house, and enjoyed maintaining his property. He took great pride in working hard and providing for his family.

Robert was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Star Allen; his sons Eugene Allen, Darryl (Louise) Allen, and Dean (Laura) Allen; 14 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Robert is preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters; and his son Billy Hughson.

Visitation for Robert will be Friday, November 26^th, at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East from 11-1pm. His funeral will begin at 1pm. He will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery.
