Robert P. Rankin

Robert P. Rankin of Indianapolis passed away peacefully February 17, 2020 at the age of 97.

Bob was born December 30, 1922 in Kent, OH to the late Glenn B. and Gertrude A. Rankin.  The family moved to Indiana, and he was a graduate of Martinsville High School.  He went on to serve his country in the US Air Force.  He retired after 35 years working for Eli Lilly in various roles.

His former memberships included the American Legion Fortville for 37 years and Past President of the Indiana Astronomical Society.  He enjoyed traveling, golfing, gardening, reading, and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife Ethel L. Rankin; son Jerry L. Rankin (Carolyn L.); as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his siblings Roy, Glen, Charlie, Betty, Anna, George, James, and Patty.

Visitation will be held Monday, February 24 from 1 to 2 PM with a Funeral Service beginning at 2 PM at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St, Indianapolis, IN 46229. Entombment will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery.
