Robert Leland Stanley

Robert “Pop” Leland Stanley, 81, of Westfield, Indiana went home to be with the Lord on December 11, 2018 at his home, surrounded by loved ones. Robert was born on April 11, 1937 in Columbia City, Indiana to the Late Richard and Pauline (Howenstine) Stanley.

He was a Navy Veteran who served on the USS Saratoga.

Robert married Helen P. Stanley on September 12, 1967 in Paradise Valley, Arizona. They were happily married for 51 years.

Robert retired from Yellow Freight System in 1999 and continued working for Globe Asphalt Paving. Robert was a member of Northview Church. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, working on the on the farm, tinkering with projects and loved his dogs.

Robert is survived by his wife, Helen; son Kenneth (Becky) L. Stanley; Daughters, Denise K. Shaffer, Lisa B. Stanley; sons, Tod R. Stanley and Michael (Ronda) S. Stanley; Daughters, Melanie K. Stanley, Kymberly D. Stanley; 16 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Robert was preceded in death by his sister, Dona Rae; and daughter Denise E. Conrad.

Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00pm on Saturday, December 15^th with funeral services beginning at 2:00 at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park North, 2706 Kessler Blvd West Drive, Indianapolis, Indiana 46228.

Burial with Veteran Honors will follow at Washington Park North Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
