Robert James Denny, Sr.

Robert James Denny, Sr., 88, of Indianapolis, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2016. He was born on October 25, 1927 in Indianapolis to the late William and Marie (Desper) Denny. Bob was a graduate of Arsenal Tech High School and served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy from 1948-1952 during the Korean War. He worked as an electrician for the Ford Motor Co. for 43 years, retiring in 1997. Bob was a current member of the American Legion Post 777 and was a lifelong Catholic. He was an avid bowler, enjoyed riding Harley Davidson motorcycles and loved spending time in the sky after earning his pilot’s license in 1980. Later in life after his retirement, Bob kept busy with a variety of activities and odd jobs, including working security at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He is survived by his wife, Sally Denny; children, Robert J. Denny, Jr., William F. Denny, Shelia Mills, Marvin (Cynthia) Johnson, Thomas (Lynda) Denny, Della (Jeff) Bray, Marilyn (Steve) Willis, John (Charlene) Denny, Shelly (William) Muse, Randall Hubbard, Charlie (Tammy) Denny, Timothy Hubbard, Suzann (Gerald) Esposito; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, William Denny, Marie and Ora Blair; siblings, Joe, Helen and Charlotte; wife, Irene Denny; children, Ronald Denny, Catherine Denny, Michael Denny, Timmy Denny. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 29, 2016 at 2pm at Flanner and Buchanan – Memorial Park, 9350 E. Washington St. Indianapolis, IN. Visitation will be from 11am – 2pm, also at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Legion Post 777.
