Robert H. Tinnell, of New Palestine, IN passed away peacefully May 30, 2019 at the age of 85.
Bob was born May 25, 1934 in Bowling Green, KY to the late Robert H. Tinnell and Laura E. Slinker-Driggs. He started working to support his family from the age of eight. After completing high school, he married the love of his life Katherine and joined the US Air Force. He spent his career after the military as a Production Manager for Naval Avionics in Indianapolis while also managing a pizza shop part of that time. Growing up a hard worker, after retirement he still continued to keep busy working in various jobs.
Bob was a Hydraulic Specialist for the US Thunderbirds, loved Nascar, fishing, and enjoyed having breakfast with his work friends telling tall tales. He loved God and the Gaither Homecoming. He will be remembered for his loving nature, his hard-working loyal spirit, and the donuts he made every year at the family Christmas Eve.
Bob leaves behind his daughters Lisa L. Tinnell (Cindy VanBree) and Linda K. Tinnell (James Osborne); cousin Betty Silcox-Starr (Keith), and brother Paul Tinnell; as well as numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years Katherine Tinnell; and siblings Kathryn “Kassie” Tinnell-Haag and Jim Tinnell.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 7 from 12 to 2 PM with a Funeral Service beginning at 2 PM in Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St, Indianapolis. Entombment with military honors will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery. Memorials in his honor may be made to the New Palestine United Methodist Church, 3565 County Rd 500 W, New Palestine, IN 46163.
