Robert H. Harden, 96, passed on September 29, 2018. Born to John and Essie Harden, he grew up in Kennard, IN. Ellen L. Barrett, his wife of 63 years, preceded him in death in 2010. Survivors include son, Steven M. Harden; daughter, Patia H. Rarick; son-in-law, Thomas W. Rarick; daughter, Kimberly J. Harden; grandchildren, Cade M. Rarick (Jenn E. Rarick), Thiana R. Galicia (Emeterio Galicia), and Kalina A. Harden; and great-grandchildren Santiago and Rafael Galicia, and Hailey Harker.
Mr. Harden graduated with a BS in mechanical engineering from Purdue University in 1942 and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He then served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He worked as an engineer for the Allison Division of General Motors Corp., retiring in 1982. Following retirement, he worked part time for Environmental Quality Control and delivered Meals on Wheels for a number of years.
Mr. Harden was a long-time, active member of 7th and 8th United Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and recently of Westview Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), where a memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018.
