Robert G. Darling, Sr

Robert Glenn Darling, Sr. passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 12, 2023, at the age of 96. He was born on March 17, 1926, in Augusta, Indiana to the late Leo G. and Dorothy M. (Castle) Darling. Bob was the second of fourteen children, and he was a devoted brother and was dearly loved and revered by all of them. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Virginia Mae Darling and sons, Robert Glenn Darling, Jr, Timothy Allen Darling, and William Scott Darling.

Bob attended school in Pike Township. During the WWII, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served his country proudly for two years before being honorably discharged in 1946. Bob worked for Washington Township Schools, for 40 plus enjoyable years.

He is survived by his daughter, Marcia Lee Mink (William Robert Mink, son-in-law); He also leaves behind granddaughters, who loved him dearly, and of whom he was infinitely proud of, Tamara Jo Harris (Timothy Russell Harris), and Tricia Lee Bass (Jeffery Earl Bass); Great-grandchildren, Andrew Robert Sevening, Morgan Lee Harris, Alexander Joe Sevening, Matthew Russell Harris, Molly Jo Harris, and Adam Nicholas Sevening; Great great granddaughter, Mae Harris Jacobson.

Bob was warm, generous, gregarious and a joy to be around. He loved fishing, auto racing, woodworking, and do it yourself home projects. He was a man of strong conviction and is now happy and whole, reunited with Virginia, and in the arms of our Savior.

A Memorial Gathering will be held Friday, February 24th, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with a Celebration of Life service immediately following, at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park North, 2706 Kessler Blvd. West Drive.
