Robert Floyd Petzel, 94, Indianapolis, passed away March 2, 2018. He was born in Columbus, OH to Mary L. and Floyd Petzel. One of five children, he was raised in Bluffton, IN. Mr. Petzel earned his Master’s degree from Butler university in between serving in the US Navy during World War Two and the Korean War. Bob was very involved in education and was a teacher and principal in Washington Township many years. He, along with his wife of more than 60 years, Betty, loved dogs. They had several Huskies and enjoyed showing them at dog shows. As a Butler alum, he was an avid fan and season ticket holder. He was also an original season ticket holder for the Indianapolis Colts. Bob and Betty enjoyed traveling and showing slide shows of their most recent trip at their annual Thanksgiving dinner. He was very involved in his church and was an avid golfer, being a long-time member at Old Oakland Country Club. Bob is predeceased by his parents, one sibling, and his wife, Betty. He is survived by 3 siblings and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be fondly remembered by his family as “Uncle Bob.” Memorial contributions may be made to Geist Christian Church. Visitation will be held Thursday from 11-1pm at Flanner-Buchanan Broad Ripple. Funeral Services will begin there at 1pm.
