Robert Fisher Clark

April 23, 1955 — July 12, 2022

Carmel, Indiana

Robert Fisher Clark, 67, went to be with his Heavenly Father and Lord of his life on July 12, 2022. He was born the youngest of four brothers to Dorothy Ann and Earl James Clark on April 23, 1955.

He attended Wabash College and graduated majoring in history, political science, and American Studies.  He was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity.

He met the love of his life at Second Presbyterian Church and married, Barbara Alig, on June 10, 1983. He was a loyal husband and father to his two children, James and Annie and his wonderful grandson, Cameron. He loved traveling with his family and had fond memories of trips to California, the Grand Canyon, New York City, Newport Rhode Island, Colorado and so many more.  He loved his many trips to northern Michigan and Sanibel Island, Florida. He loved to play with his children such games as tag, basketball, golf, and store clerk with his daughter Annie.  He also loved walking our family dog (Gracie) all over the neighborhood and nearby parks. He taught his children the love of sports, the importance of a sense of humor, and the priority of family. Making nightly family dinners a priority was a significant part of our family dynamic.

He fought his battle of oral cancer with such determination, courage and perseverance. He never complained that he was not able to eat or talk as well as he once did. His faith grew during this time and he often asked for prayers and scriptures to be read to him. Cancer often steals a person’s joy, character and zeal, but with Rob nothing could be further from the truth. He still traveled and enjoyed each day to the fullest. He will be remembered as giving the best father of the bride speech at Annie and Vince’s wedding and received a standing ovation without many dry eyes.

He loved to clean and organize things, label, categorize and preserve ordinary and rare items including papers, books, political and historical documents. He loved to write and speak and joined toastmasters prior to his cancer diagnosis.

He worked at Blue Cross and Blue Shield, The Indiana State Department of Health, the Attorney General’s Office, and most recently with Indiana University Health in the grants department.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara, his two children James (Elizabeth) his grandson, Cameron and Annie (Vince). He is also survived by his three brothers Ronald (Carolyn), Carl (Patricia) and David (Cheryl); sister-in-law, Helen (Mike) Roney; brother-in-law, Doug Alig; and many nieces and nephews.
