Robert Eugene Morr, Jr.
September 2, 1944–February 13, 2023
With love and gratitude for a long life well lived, we mark the death of Robert E. Morr, Jr. of Indianapolis, IN on February 13 at the age of 78. Bob was born during the height of World War II on September 2, 1944, in Kokomo, IN, the second of three sons to loving parents Robert E. Morr and Alice Gene (Brown) (Morr) Resneck. They both preceded him in death, as did his stepfather, Daniel Resneck.
Bob spent his youth in Kokomo, graduating from Kokomo High School in 1962, where he was active in the Thespian Club in dramatic roles. He then attended Northwestern University, where he worked as a resident assistant and was a member of Theta Chi fraternity. He earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism in 1966, logging many adventures and friendships along the way.
Bob had a talent for writing and sharing ideas with others. His early professional career included positions at the Chicago Tribune and Kokomo Tribune, working as a section editor and an arts reporter. He then moved on to communications roles at Indiana University–Kokomo and Howard Community Hospital in Kokomo. His last stop was 20 years as Vice President of Communications at the Indiana Hospital Association in Indianapolis, retiring in 2009.
Bob’s personal life was full, as well. He married Elizabeth Conley (now Wills) of Kokomo in 1967 and became a father a few years later. He later married Judith (Ridge) Morr of Kokomo in 1983, with whom he created a loving blended family. He enjoyed being with family and friends—spending time in nature, performing in Kokomo Civic Theatre, attending arts performances, participating in and watching athletic activities, swapping stories of life’s misadventures over shared food or drink, and dealing out a hand or two of cards. In quieter moments, he enjoyed good books and movies, family genealogy, and the antics of the various dogs, cats, and wild birds that made his acquaintance.
Over his lifetime and through many health challenges, he counted as his greatest blessing being a husband, father, and grandfather. Left to carry his strength and love forward are his wife of nearly 40 years, Judy Morr of Indianapolis, IN; daughter Erin (Morr) Gerecke (Eric) of Indianapolis; stepdaughters Kathy (Ulshafer) Arnos (Mark) of New Haven, IN and Tracy (Ulshafer) Caccamise (John) of Carmel, IN; grandchildren Allison Gerecke, Henry Gerecke, Olivia Arnos, Andrew Arnos, Hannah Caccamise, and Rachel Caccamise; brothers Thomas Morr (Mary Donna) and John Morr (Cindy); as well as many other family members and dear friends too numerous to list. A celebration of Bob’s life will be held on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at 3:00 p.m., with visitation from 1:00–3:00 p.m., at Flanner Buchanan- Carmel location. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Indiana Repertory Theatre or local theatre of your choice, the Indianapolis Symphony, or the American Cancer Society.
