Robert “Pops” Eugene Miller was born February 3, 1931, in Evansville, Indiana to Chester Claris and Gertrude Miller. He passed away October 3, 2019, in Indianapolis at the age of 88.
Robert joined the Marine Corps at 17 years old where he obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He served in the Korean War and was awarded the Korean Service Medal with Six Stars, a United Nations Service Medal, a Good Conduct Medal, a National Defense Service Medal, and a Korean Presidential Unit Citation for the First Marine Division.
Robert worked as a pattern dresser at Chrysler Foundry for many years until retirement. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan, and a wonderful singer. Pops also had a great sense of humor and was the King of Corny Jokes.
Robert married The Late Emma Showers, and together they had five children: Robert “Bobby” L. Miller, Rebecca A. Miller-Kelshaw (Steven), Alan D. Miller (Tina), David W. Miller, and Steven R. Miller (Melissa); and one step daughter: Carolyn Collins.
Survivors also include grandchildren: Kenneth Kelshaw (Judi), Erica Kelshaw-Wilkerson (Brian), Michael Kelshaw (Stephanie), Justin Klopotek (Jen), Alysse Mason (Andrew), DJ Miller, Buford Miller, Kala Miller, Jasmine Wilson (Jeff), Jared Miller, and Jacob Miller; step grandchildren: Kelly Sawyers, Sean Collins (Tammy); great grandchildren:, Logan Wilkerson, Keegan Wilkerson, Connor Kelshaw, Jaxton Kelshaw, Jon Morton (Allison); great-great grandchildren: Paisley Wilkerson and Nicholas Morton; and his beloved dog, Duffers.
Robert is preceded by his parents and his wife Emma.
Private family services are being held.
