Robert Evert Cloud, age 81, of Camby Indiana, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 1, 1943, Bob dedicated his life to service, both in the military and in his community.
Bob proudly served in the Navy from 1963 to 1985 and achieved the rank of MM1 Master Machinist Mate First Class. His military career took him to various parts of the world, including 3 tours in Vietnam. Bob earned numerous commendations for his bravery and leadership. Bob became Chief Petty Officer in 1980 in the Coast Guard. His commitment to his country was unwavering and he always said it was his honor to serve.
Bob enjoyed sharing stories and knowledge with his grandchildren, elementary schools and others regarding his military career. Bob was a source of inspiration to all who knew him.
Following his distinguished military service, Bob continued to serve his community as a Golf Partner with Marion County South Special Olympics. Known for his love of family and God, he left a lasting impact on those who knew him.
In his retirement, Bob enjoyed golf, camping, reading and traveling.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Melinda; his sons Troy (Kelli) Cloud and Lance Cloud, and stepdaughter Amy Mockobee; his grandchildren, Tyler, Keaten, Brett, Justin, Kate(lyn), Karissa, Savannah, Addyson, Dawson, Jadrian, Hayden, Jeremiah, and Isabella; great grandson Jasper; and his siblings William (Pat) Cloud, Beverly (Jim) Richardson, Mary Cloud, Grace (Steve) Crowell. Bob is survived by multiple nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Harvey and Betty Cloud, his stepdaughter Stacey Stanger, and his daughter Tamantha Hair. His legacy of service, love, and dedication will forever be cherished by his family and friends.
A funeral service to honor Bob’s life will be held Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at 1 pm with visitation from 11 am to service time at Flanner and Buchanan-Floral Park, 425 N. Holt Road, Indianapolis, IN 46222. Military honors will be rendered at the graveside at Floral Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to 22 A Day to support suicide awareness and mental health in military personnel who are both active duty and veterans or day or Marion County South Special Olympics in Bob’s memory.
