Robert Clemons

Robert Clemons passed away peacefully on September 16th, 2023, at the age of 91 years old. Robert was born on August 22, 1932, in Jackson, Kentucky to the late Jake and Eva Clemons and was one of 13 children. Being raised in the hills of Appalachia, he was engraved with strong family values, impeccable work ethic, and ability to selflessly and joyfully give to others. 

In his early 20's he moved to Indianapolis where he met his wife, Shirley, who gave him 68 wonderful years of marriage and gave life to 4 children. Robert retired in 1991 from Allison Transmission after 42 years of service. He was an avid member of the Harmony Baptist Church and a life-long member of the U.A.W. in which he always took advantage of the monthly retiree breakfast. During his retirement, his passions included spending time with his children and grandchildren, taking care of his farm, watching old westerns on rainy days, and loved attending church every Sunday. He was loved by many and gave to many more. He will be forever missed. 

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and several siblings. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Clemons; children, James Clemons, Debra (Doug) Bolin, David Clemons, and Lisa Clemons; brother, Jesse Clemons; sister, Rosie Morris; four grandchildren, Cody Kikendall, Austin Bolin, Taylor Bolin, and Shawn Moy, and one great grandchild. 

Funeral service will be Friday, September 22, 2023, at 1pm with calling from noon at Harmony Baptist Church, Avon Indiana. Burial will follow at West Ridge Park Cemetery.
