Robert Burris

Robert L. Burris, 80, passed away on March 15, 2023.

He was born in Washington, Indiana on November 1, 1942, to his parents Robert J. and Dorris (Guy) Burris.

He moved to Indianapolis when he was 18 years old and began working for the Indianapolis Star News until he retired. He was a devout Catholic with strong faith. He loved running and golf and was part of a men’s softball league for many years. He loved his family deeply and never met a stranger.

Robert is survived by his loving wife, Waltraud Susie Burris; his daughter, Angela (Chris) Thompson; grandchildren Brittany (Matt) Allee, Ashley and Elizabeth Brackin, Skylar Thompson; great grandchildren Parker and Rhett Allee. Other survivors include his brother Ray Burris and sisters Carole, Linda, and Lisa.

He is preceded in death by his children Larry Burris and Ursula (Pierre) Aurelio and granddaughter Brianna Aurelio.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington Street Indianapolis IN. A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, April 15 from 2pm-3pm with a memorial service beginning at 3pm.
