Robert (Bob) Weeks
July 3, 1936 – September 24, 2024
Robert (Bob) Weeks of Indianapolis passed away on Tuesday, September 24, at the age of 88. Bob was born in Portsmouth, Ohio, on July 3, 1936, to Leota and Walter Weeks. He grew up in Portsmouth, graduating from PHS where he played varsity football and baseball. He then attended Miami (Ohio) on a football scholarship where he played for coaching icons John Pont and Ara Parseghian. He was also a proud member of the Sigma Chi fraternity.
Prior to his senior year at Miami, he was home for the summer. While home, he met the “love of his life,” Patricia, at the local swimming pool, and they eloped that November. He always said she was the prettiest girl in town, and he didn’t want to let her get away! They eventually moved to Indianapolis where they raised their three children, Kirk, Julie, and Tammy. He was an industrial sales manager there for Central Rubber & Supply Co., working for nearly 50 years before retiring.
Bob was a man of strong faith, and he and his family worshiped at First Baptist Church where he was a deacon. He was also instrumental in building the baseball diamonds for First Baptist Athletics, a program that has expanded and thrives today. He enjoyed coaching youth baseball for nearly a decade at Skiles Test Little League and coaching youth football for the Lawrence Mini-Bears for many years.
Bob Weeks was a gentleman and a gentle man. He was a quiet man, but when he spoke, you listened. He was a faithful and loving husband to Patricia for nearly 67 years, a devoted man who loved his family dearly. Faith and family were the most important things in his life.
Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Leota, and father Walter. He is survived by his wife, Patricia, his son, Kirk, and his daughters, Julie (Roger) Kilmer and Tammy (Bob) Humphrey, along with his grandchildren, Madison (Sam) Wadman and Cole Humphrey.
Bob’s life will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at First Baptist Church, 8600 N. College Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46240. Family and friends are invited to gather from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation 13770 Noel Road, Suite 801889, Dallas, TX 75380 (www.komen.org).
