Robert “Bob” Dykstra, 76, passed away December 9, 2016. He was the son of the late Folkert and Margaret Dykstra of Grand Rapids, MI.
He was a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp, a graduate of Ferris State University and a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He worked for the Gene B. Glick Company for most of his career, and most recently retired from the Engineering Dept. of the City of Carmel. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed visiting the national parks with his family. Bob was an active member of his church, and his life was richly filled with many wonderful friends with whom he enjoyed socializing.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; children, Kathy Doman, Pam (Jim) Mills, Greg (Brandon) Dykstra, Steve (Emily) Dykstra, and 13 very special grandchildren. He was preceded in passing by a son, Briton Dykstra.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with the eulogies being given at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 13, 2016, at Flanner and Buchanan – Carmel, 325 East Carmel Drive.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2016, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 14598 Oakridge Road.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities Crisis Office, 1400 North Meridian Street, Indianapolis, IN 46202.
