Robert "Bob" Donald Peters

July 29, 1935 — January 11, 2023

New Palestine, IN

Friends, it is with a broken heart that we inform you that America has lost another hero. Petty Officer Robert Peters, 87 of New Palestine, IN, has completed his earthly mission. Robert “Bob” Donald Peters, passed away on January 11, 2023. He was born on July 29, 1935, in Rushville, Indiana, to parents, Carl H. and Ruth L. (Wright) Peters.

Bob served his country honorably in the Navy from 1953-1961 during the Korean War. He spent his time serving our country aboard the USS Hancock. Afterwards, he spent most of his life employed at Ford Motor Company as a machine operator.

Bob loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter.  He enjoyed both bow and gun season -hunting deer and turkey.  Wanda and Bob enjoyed traveling with their favorite travel destinations being Africa and Alaska.  Bob was a man that came from a time when you were humble and never spoke about yourself.  He often put others first.  Bob was a man of faith and served as a Deacon at Morristown Christian Church. He was an expert joke teller and if you met him, you likely remember a joke or two. He enjoyed making people smile and had perfected his Donald Duck voice to make children laugh. He was quick to help those around him and often joked about specializing in mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. Bob was even great at customizing cars with duct tape and silicone.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Peters; children, Sharon (Glen) Shafer, Brian (Nancy) Peters, and Jeffrey Peters; grandchildren, Chelsie, Courtney, Leah, Megan, Taylor and Savanna; great-grandchildren, Collin, Carolina, Maverick, and Macie; and will be missed by all his relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Carl H. and Ruth L. Peters.

Forever loved, always honored, and NEVER forgotten! Fair winds and following seas brother!
