Robert "Bob" Howard Bankert, aged 64, of Zionsville, Indiana, passed away on May 5, 2024. Bob was born on December 2, 1959, in Indianapolis, IN. He is survived by his “lovely young bride”, Roxann, his children Justin (Akvilina), Jestina, Jenna (Dylan), Jecinda, Jared, and Elizabeth. He is also survived by his siblings Jonathan (Lori), Cynthia, Gregory (Lora), and Kathryn (Jay), and the mother of his children, Robin. Bob was preceded in death by his father Jonathan, mother Patricia, and niece Erin.
Bob was a man that many knew and loved. He had a personality that was as big as a mountain with a heart and soul to match. He had a tenacity for life and made even the most mundane things an adventure. He always said that a stranger was just a friend that he hadn’t met yet. He would meet you with a conversation, a helping hand, or some dice to barter with. He was a self-proclaimed stock car driver who would boast that he had a battleship tattoo on his chest and “Smith and Wesson” on his arms. He was a true Christian, who inspired many by his faith and sermons. He planted the seeds of virtue in his children and made sure we knew to always think before we act. He was a loving father who was always there for us.
Bob started Boone County Resource Recovery and Circle City Limousine. He also worked at The Country Market. He found joy in fellowship, board games, rolling dice, gardening, watching Westerns, honing his sharpshooting skills, traveling, and cooking.
Bob had affiliations with Zionsville Presbyterian Church, Big Springs Church, Christ Community Church, Shepard Community Church, Promise Keepers, Zionsville Rotary Club, Zionsville Lions Club, The National Rifle Association, and The Columbia Club.
Services for Bob will be held at Zionsville Presbyterian Church. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, May 9th, from 5-7 P.M., and viewing on Friday, May 10th, from noon to 1 P.M., followed by the funeral at 1 P.M. Contributions in his memory can be made to Zionsville Presbyterian Church, Big Springs Church, Saint Joseph Indian School, or a Christian mission of your choice.
Flanner Buchanan in Zionsville, IN, is assisting the family with the funeral arrangements.
