Robert A. Nieman

Robert A. Nieman, 80, of Greenwood passed away January 25, 2019 after a long illness.

He was born August 23, 1938 in Richmond, IN to the late Fred and Kathryn Thistlewaite Nieman.  He attended Arsenal Tech High School and then went on to graduate from GM Institute (now Kettering) as a mechanical engineer.  He went to work for GM where he spent his career starting as an engineer and progressing into a plant manager before retiring in 1998.

He married Judith Ann Brown Nieman in 1963, and Marianne was born to them in 1979.

Robert volunteered for Junior Achievement. He had an impeccable work ethic and enjoyed many interests including bowling, fishing, watching sports (as he played in his youth and was a very talented baseball player), and going to the casinos with his wife Judy. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife Judith Ann Brown Nieman; daughter Marianne Nieman; brother Tom Nieman; sister Patti Gordon; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held Monday, January 28 from 4 to 8 PM at Flanner Buchanan – Memorial Park, 9350 E. Washington St, Indianapolis.  Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 29 at 1 PM in the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
