Richard Hunt Parry (Dick) passed away on August 30, 2024. Born on September 9, 1935 to Sidney and Janet (Hunt) Parry. He is survived by his loving wife of more than 39 years, Pat, his two sons, Richard Parry, Jr and William Parry, stepson Brian Jennings (Kelly) and stepdaughter Carrie Gaca (Jason). He was predeceased by his daughter Lisa Parry and his twin brother Robert Parry. Also surviving are his grandchildren Kyle and Colin Parry, Sarah and Reid Parry along with Austin, Ania and Owen Gaca. He was raised in northeast Pennsylvania and attended Clark Summit High School where he was class officer, a member of the National Honor Society and lettered in baseball, basketball and football.
He attended Penn State University where he received a BS degree in Mineral Engineering and a MS degree in Mineral Economics. He was a member of Delta Upsilon Fraternity and served as student manager of the track team. While receiving his BS degree, he was a distinguished member of the Air Force ROTC. He served several years on active and reserve Air Force duty and retired with the rank of Captain.
He joined the Dow Chemical Company where he enjoyed a 33 year career serving in a variety of sales, marketing and General Management positions. Upon retirement, he volunteered and mentored for several non-profit organizations and served on the boards of Junior Achievement of Central Indiana, the Carmel Clay Public Library and the Executive Service Corps.
His hobbies were golf and gardening and he often lamented that he was better at the latter. He was proud that he prevailed after many years in convincing his wife Pat to join him in the game of golf. He was a member of the Bridgewater Club and enjoyed golf with Pat, children and grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00pm on September 4, 2024, at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church (17102 Spring Mill Road, Westfield, IN 46074). Family and friends are invited to gather from 10:00 am until the time of mass on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church. Burial will take place at a later date at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Carmel Clay Public Library Foundation (carmelclaylibrary.org).
