Richard M. Sommer

Richard M. Sommer, 84, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away October 4, 2021. He was born on September 3, 1937 to the late Robert S. and Hellen L. Haggard Sommer.

After graduating from Arsenal Tech, he went on to join the Air Force and dedicated four years of service to the United States Military. Upon his return, he began work for Grocery Supply as a billing clerk and order filler. Richard was a loving brother and friend to many.

He is survived by his beloved brother, Stephen T. Sommer; nieces, Rebecca Collings and Melissa DePas; foster nieces, Windie Herring and Cindie Lidel; 7 grandnieces and nephews; and 9 great-grandnieces and nephews. He was also blessed to meet the most recent addition to the Sommer family, Lela.

A time of visiting will be held on Sunday, October 17, 2021 from 2-6PM at Flanner Buchanan – Memorial Park, 9350 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46229. Services will be held the following day, Monday, October 18, 2021 at 11AM at St. Phillip Neri, 550 N. Rural St., Indianapolis, 46201. Burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
