Richard M. Guthridge

Mr. Richard M. Guthridge, 94, passed away on Sunday, January15, 2017 at his home in Speedway, Indiana surrounded by his wife and children.

He was born in Springfield, Ohio on April 12, 1922, to thelate Clarence and Georgia Faye Guthridge.

Richard graduated from Springfield High School in 1940. Heserved his country honorably in the Army Air Force from 1942-1946,

On December 24, 1944 he married the love of his lifeElizabeth (Poorman) Guthridge in Piqua, Ohio. She survives.

He graduated from Parks Air College with a degree inAircraft Maintenance Engineering in March of 1949. He worked for American AirLines in Tulsa, Oklahoma until 1955 when he then joined Allison Division ofGeneral Motors until his retirement in 1980.

Richard was active at Speedway Baptist Church having servedas Choir Director, Deacon and Sunday School Teacher.

Richard is survived by his wife Beth and children John (Mary)Guthridge of Punta Gorda, Florida; Mary Beth Zigler of Jamestown, Indiana;Sharon (Rick) Chandler of Speedway, Indiana, and Joan Guthridge,daughter-in-love, of Lebanon, Indiana.

Richard is survived also by eight grandchildren: Suzanne(Cliff) Hardy, John Ryan Guthridge, Jason (Krissy) Guthridge, Joseph (Kasey)Guthridge, Jacob (Crystal) Zigler, Jessica (Christopher) Taylor, ZacheryChandler, Megan Chandler. Nine great grandchildren survive: Caroline andJackson Hardy, Justin Guthridge, Jake, Alexis and Alyssa Guthridge, Rodney,Caleb and Layna Zigler.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and son Jerry.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, January 20, 2017at 2:00 pm at Speedway Baptist Church, 2986 Moller Road, Speedway, Indiana witha one hour visitation prior to the service.
