Richard Louis Tapp, of Indianapolis, passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at the age of 78. He was born in Indianapolis on December 22, 1939 to Richard and Laverne (Dyer) Tapp.
Richard spent 22 years on active duty for the Marine Corps including 2 tours in Vietnam; retiring in 1979. He was always proud of his Country and honored he could serve for it.
Richard and Nancy joined in marriage on August 2, 1980. Richard worked at Zimmer in Warsaw, IN, followed by Zimmer Patient Care in Statesville, NC as the Human Resources director; retiring after twenty years.
Later in life Richard and Nancy settled down and during this time he enjoyed playing Golf, reading, and watching Westerns. He loved his family and spending quality time with them more than anything.
Richard is preceded in death by: his parents, Richard and Laverne Tapp; son, William Tapp; and his sister Malinda.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory: his loving wife Nancy; children, Michael (Lisa) Tapp, James (Shirley) Tapp, Anita Miles, and Jeff (Zeb) Miles; brother, Michael (Rita) Tapp; nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, and several loving nephews and extended family.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, Veteran’s Service Organization, or Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
