RICHARD (DICK) GENE MAULTRA
Richard left this life to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 16, 2017 at the age of 89. He was born May 15, 1927 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, the only child of Oscar and Frieda Maultra, who preceded him in death. Richard eventually moved to Oshkosh, Wisconsin where he spent his formative years.
He served in the Navy in the South Pacific during World War II.
Richard was a graduate of Drake University with a degree in commerce and finance. He was a founding member of the Drake Chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He was employed for nearly 40 years at Employers Insurance of Wausau. While there, he earned his CPCU and retired as a regional sales manager.
On June 16, 1956 he married Maxine Mullinax of Allendale, Illinois, who preceded him in death.
Richard was a long-time volunteer of Meals-On-Wheels, and was a volunteer for the Kiwanis where he eventually served as President of the Castleton Chapter from 1996 to 1997. He was a member of Orchard Park Church of Carmel, Indiana, where he once served as deacon in the 1960s. Richard also was involved with Compassion International where he sponsored a child from youth through his college graduation in India.
Richard is survived by his son, Richard G. Maultra, Jr. (Denise), daughter Dr. Alisa L. Smith (George); two grandsons, Jordan Richard Maultra and George Andrew Smith; three grand- daughters, Olivia Smith, Kimberly Fourman (Byron) and Kristin Kempson (Jordan); and seven great grandchildren: Caitlyn, Liberty, Logan, Jane, Rose, Harlan and Eleanor.
The family wishes to thank family friend Mary Esther Otal Lungren, for her devotion and care for Richard, and the nurses and doctors of the Heart Hospital at Community North in Indianapolis for their outstanding care.
Visitation will be held from 1pm to 3pm March 25, with services beginning at 3pm at Flanner and Buchanan-Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Conner Suite), 9700 Allisonville Rd, 46250. Pastor Shelly Wood will be officiating. Memorial contributions may by made by sponsoring a child (primary) or making a contribution (secondary) to Compassion International via www.compassion.com.
