Richard Allen Pugh
Richard Allen Pugh walked into the arms of his Savior Jesus after a battle with cancer on December 1, 2021 at the age of 84. Richard was born on June 5, 1937 in Windfall, IN and married Shirley Ann Hall on May 10, 1958 to whom he was happily married for 62 years until her passing less than a year ago. They had two children, Tammy and Greg and lived in Northern Indiana until the mid 1960’s before moving to central Indiana where he and Shirley continued to reside. Having worked for UPS for most of his adult life he was able to retire early at 55 but all who knew him or even just saw him around the house and yard knew he remained far from idle.
Richard displayed an incredibly strong commitment to his family, his friends, and his Lord. He loved making his grandkids smile. For example, each grandchild enjoyed one on one time in a “vacation of their choosing” with their grandparents… and if Disneyworld Grandpa would go on every ride. He used his woodworking skills to make gifts such as doll furniture, animal rockers, and games. His handyman, DIY skills were used to help family and friends as well as serve Traders’ Point Church. And even after losing the love of his life, Richard demonstrated the “oneness” with his bride by continuing to do everything the way she had done them.
He is survived by his sister Nancy Shirley, brother Gary (Cee) Pugh, daughter Tammy (Joe) Vrabely and son Greg (Cheri) Pugh, grandchildren Lindsay Vrabely, Ashley (Adam) Fountaine, Mallory (Eric) Malinowski, Jessica (Jared) Howe, Ryan Pugh, Brad Pugh, Jarrett Pugh and great grandchildren Hazel Malinowski, Levi and James Howe. He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Ann Pugh, his mother Cordelia Schlemmer, and father Wendell Pugh.
Visitation will be held at Flanner Buchanan – Zionsville (105 W. Pine Street, Zionsville, IN) on Sunday, December 12, 2021 from 3pm-5pm with service immediately following. Burial will be Monday, December 13, 2021 at 11am at Porter Rae Cemetery in North Liberty, IN.
