Richard A. Johnson

Richard A. Johnson “Dick”, 83, of Indianapolis, passed away on January 8, 2019.

Richard was born on October 5, 1935 in Indianapolis to the late Albert and Annamae Johnson.

Dick was a simple man, he worked hard to provide for his family, and enjoyed staying busy. He retired from Interstate Castings and had previously worked at Schwitzer. He loved baseball, fishing, but above all he was a dedicated race fan, he loved Indy Car and NASCAR and spent the month of May at the track. Richard was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he always made time to spend with his family, and will be dearly missed by those who knew him.

He leaves behind his children, Gail Wood (David), Suzie Vandagriff, Kathy West, and Rick Johnson (Melba); 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and loving wife of 57 years, Sara Johnson.

Friends and family are invited to gather from 12:00-2:00pm on Saturday, January 12, 2019 with a funeral service to follow at 2:00pm at Flanner Buchanan- Memorial Park.
