Richard A. Fields, of Indianapolis, passed away October 19th, 2020. He was born in Hymera, Indiana on January 13th, 1924 to parents Austin and Bertha (Nelson) Fields.
Richard graduated from Owensburg High School.
He proudly served his country in the United States Navy, serving in the South Pacific during World War II.
Richard married his high school sweetheart, Hazel Fletcher. They spent many wonderful years together. Hazel passed away in 2003.
Richard worked as a general foreman at Ford Automotive for 23 years before retiring in 1980.
In 2004, Richard married Marlene Fletcher.
Richard was a loving man, with many interests. He enjoyed fishing, tinkering with his tools and woodworking. Richard and his group of camping friends shared many fun trips to Florida. He was a loyal member of Southeastern Church of Christ. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He will be missed by all.
Richard is survived by his wife Marlene Fields; sons Richard Dean Fields (Jane), Donald Wayne Fields (Kathy), Mark Scott Fields (Linda), and step-son John Fletcher (Lori); grandchildren Spencer Fields (Kaitlin), and Jennifer Fields Lawrence (Trevor); and great-grandchildren Ryan, Abby, Lucas, and Ava.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel (Fletcher) Fields.
Visitation for Richard will be Friday, October 23rd, from 12-1pm, funeral service beginning at 1pm, at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East. He will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery.
