Rhoda May (Bryant) Rakes

Rhoda May Rakes, 69 years old, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away Thursday, August 17, 2017. She was born January 24, 1948 in Logan County, West Virginia to David and Georgia (Dalton) Bryant. She married the love of her life, Terry Rakes, on September 8, 1968 and two went on to have two adoring children.

Rhoda worked for Ertel Manufacturing in Indianapolis for 25 years. She will be remembered for her love of her garden filled with flowers, windchimes, and, of course, hummingbirds. She loved her angels and enjoyed crocheting blankets for family.

Rhoda is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Gracie Pullen (Johnny).

She is survived by her adoring husband of 49 years, Terry Rakes; her children, Randy Rakes and Teresa Rakes; sisters, Bertha “Sissy” Farley (Freeman), Frankie Farley, and Barbara Mendez (Ray); granddaughters, Ashlie Trover (Ted McKinley), Erin Rakes (Jonathan Oliff), Stacy Rakes (Robert Price), and Alyssa Trover; and one great-grandson, Franklin.

Visitation will be held Monday, August 21, 2017 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Service will be on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior.
