Rex Fletcher Rodwell, 66, Indianapolis, passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully, on June 30, 2024. He was born in Clovis, NM to Richard Francis Rodwell and Roxie Fletcher Rodwell. Rex followed in his father’s footsteps into the military after completing ROTC at Missouri State University. Over his 20-year career, he was in the Army 82nd Airborne and the Armor Division. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army Reserves, after serving in Bosnia, Germany, Iraq, and Kuwait. Rex worked as a procurement specialist at RTX Corp.
Rex dedicated his life to being a great husband, father, son, and friend. He loved taking his family on adventures throughout the US to camp, hike, visit national parks, historic military monuments and battle grounds. He also enjoyed supporting his children in their endeavors, as well as taking them to amusement parks. Rex spent some years training his dogs in K-9 rescue and at the end of his life was a part of the Indy Overlanders. Rex loved history, sci-fi, reading, movies, photography, the outdoors, road trips, his pets, his family and just sitting by a campfire.
Rex was preceded in death by his father Richard (Pete) Rodwell. Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Lynn (Schmadeke) Rodwell, children Elizabeth Rodwell, Katie Rodwell, and Michael Lange (Jessica), his mother Roxie Fletcher Rodwell, and his siblings Rhonda (Gary) Black and Regina Rodwell Bell (Jake Bell).
