Rex L. Thoman

Rex L. Thoman, 89 of Indianapolis, passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2022. Rex was born February 2, 1932 in Liberty Township, Shelby County to the late Dalton and Gertrude Thoman.

Rex was a physician, working for IU/Methodist Hospital for nearly 40 years. He did volunteer work providing medical services for 20 years at free clinics in the inner city after retiring from his private practice. Rex gave that up to care for his wife full time. After her death, he did regular weekly volunteer work for St. Vincent de Paul and at St. Pius church for many years.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, February 4 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Flanner Buchanan-Carmel. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, February 5 at 11:00 am at St. Pius X Catholic Church.

Rex was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Joyce Fetters Thoman. He is survived by his children, Reginauld (Linda) Thoman, Scott Thoman, Jennifer (Rich) Whaley, Timothy (Catherine) Thoman, Radford Thoman, Steven (Michelle)Thoman; 18 Grandchildren: Nicole Zaremski, Brynne Thoman, Paul Thoman, Elizabeth Chintala, Sean Thoman, Taylor Thoman, Noah Whaley, Fallon Thoman, Chris Thoman, Michael Thoman, Isaac Whaley, Conrad Thoman, Maria Thoman, Nicholas Thoman, Caroline Thoman, Kayla Thoman, Josh Thoman, Anna Whaley; 5 Great grandchildren: Teresa Thoman, Ahana Chintala, Max Thoman, Rexa Zaremski, Damien Thoman.
