Relis Dempsey Cline II
71, of Avon, passed away July 3, 2020. He was born on September 9, 1948 in Indianapolis, Indiana as the son of Relis D. Cline I and Mildred E. Cline.
Relis graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1967. He was then in the U.S. Army 1968-1970. He was stationed in Nurnberg, Germany in the artillery unit. Upon return to the U.S., he was employed by International Harvester (which later became Navistar) where he was a millwright and retired after 30+ years. His work buddies gave him the nickname of “Pickles” which he was fond of.
Relis was very involved in Boy Scouting and served as a Den Leader in Pack #312 and then later as a Chairman. He participated in many camp outings, panning for gold events, and summer camp activities … and oh the popcorn sales!
Relis enjoyed watching his children Melissa and Michael participate in sports, school events, and scouting. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in sports, dance recitals, and school events.
Relis was an active church member in Avon Christian Church, Pittsboro Christian Church, and East Tenth United Methodist Church.
Relis is survived by his children Melissa Kepley and Michael Cline (Michelle); grandchildren Kayleigh Brown, Devon Brown, Brooklyn Brown, Kenzie Cline; and great grandchildren Sterling Brown, and Zander Bui.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Ann Cline;
A visitation will be held on Friday, July 17, 2020 from 10am-12pm at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East. With a funeral service following immediately after.
