Raymond Randy Marra

November 26, 1956 — April 20, 2021

Indianapolis, IN

Raymond Randy Marra, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away April 20, 2021 at the age of 64. He was born in Indianapolis to Angelo Raymond Marra and G. Elaine Cawley and lived most of his life on the Indianapolis Northside. Randy graduated from North Central High School and Florida Atlantic University.
He was an entrepreneur at heart. During college, he bought old 16mm film rolls from the school, extracted the acetate plastic and sold them. He also sold the film canisters to bars and restaurants as serving trays. After college, Randy declined his invitation to attend law school and dug into the family business: tunneling. He went on to found and operate a construction company named “TRAMCO,” brilliantly and affectionately named for his son Andy: “The Raymond Andrew Marra Company.” For more than two decades he would proclaim he was “#1 in the #2 business.” TRAMCO assisted in the development of important public projects and private golf courses in the area. After selling TRAMCO, Randy worked as a consultant, traveled internationally, and worked in business management with Harding Group.
Randy’s interests were as diverse as the friends he kept. He owned and operated a fried chicken franchise with his brother in the early years, the Marra-Majestic Gold Mine just outside Prescott, Arizona, and a wine and canvas business with his wife in Charleston, South Carolina in recent years.
Randy taught bible school at St. Pius X Catholic Church and participated in the Stutz Artist Open House for more than 14 years. He was involved with his son at Park Tudor High School, located only blocks from his home. In addition to the dozens of persons he mentored in the underground utility business, Randy served on the CEMT Industry Advisory Board at IUPUI and assisted with the Lugar Center for Renewable Energy at IUPUI to validate waste-to-energy technologies for international project development teams.
Above all else, Randy loved his family. After losing his first wife, Randy became both mother and father to his young son Andy. The two became more than best friends; they were inseparable. They spoke everyday and traveled the world together from Ecuador to China.
After an “extended” courtship, Randy married the love of his life, JanettMarie. As payback for dragging her to endless social events, she outplayed him on the golf course. He taught her how to hug.
His love for his granddaughters transcended all. No one made him prouder than his two girls, Ella and Rory. He loved cooking them breakfast and spoiling them with ice cream with sprinkles.
Randy was preceded in death by his father Angelo. Survivors include his wife JanettMarie, son Andy (Molly), mother Elaine Cawley, favorite brother Mike (Kathy), sister Kelly Henke, and his precious granddaughters.
Above all, Randy was a son, father, and grandfather in every imaginable way. He was adored by friends and family and popular with all who met him for his quick jokes, infectious smile, and hardy laughs. Quick-witted and always self-deprecating, he led by example in the business of living life at its best. He will be missed dearly.
